With swimsuit season quickly approaching you are not alone.

This is the time of year where a lot of women start to focus on their summer body.

I am right there with you momma’s!

Crash dieting and spending hours working out is not the way to go.

It’s not only unsafe but very unhealthy.

Swimsuit season is here! Ready for your summer body? Here are 9 quick but healthy ways you can lose weight before summer to feel your best!

So let’s go over the 9 quick but healthy ways you can lose weight before summer to feel your best!


1 – Walk More

Now that we are back to nicer weather get out there and walk more.

You should shoot for 30 minutes a day for overall exercise but when you are looking to shed a few extra lbs. an extra walk can’t hurt!

I love taking my kids for walks when it starts to gt warmer out.

After dinner is a perfect time to get an extra walk in.

The sun is not blazing hot, your kids can get out that little extra energy before bedtime and you can burn a few extra calories.

If walking is not your thing, go for a bike ride, play a sport with them outside.

Your goal is just to get a little more movement for the day.


2 – Calories In vs Calories Out

In order to lose weight you need be in a calorie deficit.

Take a look at your level of activity and your calorie intake.

I highly recommend getting a heart rate watch such as a Fitbit.

This little baby tracks so much stuff for me, now I can not live without it.

This will give you a baseline of what your level of activity is and how many calories you are burning a day.

Compare that to how many calories you eat each day and see where your tweaks need to be made.

You may need to cut out a few calories or increase your activity level.

Now keep in mind I do not recommend going below 1500 calories for an average female.

Everyone is different but this is the average range.

If you dip too low you will wind up putting your body in starvation mode and wind up seeing no weight loss.

A good way to track calories easily is use an app.

I always go back to MyFitnessPal.

You can easily scan in the foods your eating to see exactly how many calories you’re eating.


3 – Avoid Late Night Snacks

This is a great way to cut calories!

Cut those late night snacks.

Before you know it you could be watching TV and boom you have eaten entirely way too much.

For weight loss, try to eat dinner filled with protein, fiber, and complex carbs. Those will keep you fuller longer.


4 – Meal Prep

When you are trying to lose weight, diet is usually the hardest to stick with.

I know for me it is!

When you are trying to lose weight for summer meal prep is an amazing option to keep you really sticking to your clean eating plan.

Take a couple of hours each week and plan out your meals and snacks!

Prep all the food ahead of time to make it easy to grab and eat.

Label all your meals and snacks into proportioned containers.

You will be shocked how well meal prepping works when you are trying to lose weight.


5 – Food Journal

Do you actually know how your day works when it comes to food?

Are you snacking too much and not realizing how many calories are in those “just a handful” snack items?

Document it!

This is where a good journal come in handy.

Take clear notes of everything you eat in a day and what time you are eating.

Be aware of those “hangry” periods and what you ate.

Once you have a clear diary of your foods, total them up into a calorie tracker and see how much you are actually consuming.

Then plan!

See if you need to cut calories, and meal prep your meals according to your hungrier times of the day.

If you find at 3 o’clock you are very hungry plan a larger meal for lunch or move your lunch to that time.

6 – Water and Plenty Of It

Hydration is a big part of a healthy lifestyle but when it comes to weight loss it helps for so many reasons.

Water helps clear out the toxins in our body and can help us eat less.

When you are looking to lose weight before summer try to increase your water intake.

When you are working out you sweat, and with the heat, you need to be careful too much sweat is not always a good thing.

Keep your body hydrated with tons of water!


7 – Get Plenty Of Rest

A good night sleep is very important for weight loss.

We need rest!

Allow your body to recharge at least 7 hours each night.

Studies show when you are deprived of sleep you are less likely to lose weight, especially in your stomach.

If you want to lose weight before summer and feel good in a bathing suit get plenty of quality sleep each night.


8 – Strength Train

Create a summer workout plan.

Cardio or HIIT is great but strength training is much better for toning and you can burn a lot of calories by doing it.

When your body builds muscle you increase your metabolism.

What does increasing metabolism mean?

You are increasing your resting metabolic rate therefore burning more calories and fat.

There is a lot of misconception when it comes to lifting for women.

You will not get big or bulky.

We are designed differently than men.

When a woman lifts or strength trains we gain muscle but its a leaner look.

Your summer body will take time!

Go into this with a realistic weight loss goal in mind.

If you don’t have a realistic goal in mind you will just be disappointed.

Weight loss is all about progress, not perfection. Every pound lost should feel amazing because you are one step closer to your goal.
